Elementary Teacher, 2021-2022 School Year

Global Academy is seeking passionate, dedicated teachers who will provide best-practice instruction to diverse learners. Global Academy is an award-winning charter school that leads the state in closing the achievement gap for diverse students. Global Academy’s mission is based on the principles of the International Baccalaureate Programme and is an authorized IB Primary Years Program site. Global Academy’s school culture is exemplary in providing a calm, safe environment in which students can learn.

 

Global Academy is looking for teachers for two types of elementary positions during the 2021-2021 school year:

  1. Homeroom teachers – we do not know the specific grade levels yet but we are hiring additional K-6 teachers
  2. Academic specialists – these teachers provide intervention services in reading and math in a whole group or small group setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Articulate the mission and vision of Global Academy to students, parents, and the greater community
  • Create a classroom environment in which every child can succeed and which establishes high academic and behavior standards
  • Demonstrate high proficiency and expertise in content areas
  • Create effective lesson plans and instructional materials
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students
  • Teach all approved curricula
  • Implement and support the School Wide Positive Behavior System established by the school
  • Assess the progress of each student
  • Use standardized test data to make instructional decisions
  • Prepare and maintain appropriate records and progress reports
  • Communicate with parents during the school day and outside the normal classroom hours as required
  • Identify student needs and make appropriate referrals for student services
  • Help to promote and maintain a professional environment
  • Direct paraprofessionals and volunteers as necessary
  • Demonstrate the attributes of a lifelong learner
  • Participate successfully in the faculty professional development and evaluation system
  • Perform other duties as may be reasonably assigned by the administration

Required Qualifications

  • Must be licensed (or eligible to be licensed) to teach elementary students (Grades 1-6 or K-6) by the State of Minnesota or eligible to be licensed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with educational technology
  • Ability to work with diverse student populations
  • Commitment to educational equity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with ESL population
  • Knowledge of or experience with the International Baccalaureate Program
Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach for objects, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, and use hands to grasp and feel. The employed must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally being required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Special Education Paraprofessional 
Grades K-8
2021-2022
 
Global Academy is seeking passionate, dedicated paraprofessionals who will assist with best-practice instruction to diverse learners.  Global Academy is an award-winning charter school that leads the state in closing the achievement gap for diverse students. Global Academy’s mission is based on the principles of the International Baccalaureate Programme and is an authorized IB site.  Global Academy’s school culture is exemplary in providing a calm, safe environment in which students can learn.   This position is working as a special education paraprofessional in a variety of grade levels.
 
Responsibilities
 
Assists in the supervision of learning activities, circulating within the classroom and providing assistance and learning support to students.
Provides instruction to students as prescribed by the supervising teacher and reinforces skills introduced by the teacher.
Assists teachers in checking and objectively evaluating students' work
Works with students individually and in small groups reinforcing skills
Assists in managing student behavior and maintaining classroom order; reinforces rules of the school and classroom
Performs a variety of clerical tasks such as typing, copying, stapling, filing, assembling and locating materials, laminating, etc.
Maintains accurate and complete records of a variety of student information that may require the use of a computer terminal to enter student scores and other student data.
 
May be assigned monitoring duties, i.e., hallways, lunchroom, restrooms, recess, and bus duty
Assists teaching in communicating with parents and families
 
Able to follow state and federal law regarding special education students
Other duties as may be assigned
 
Required Qualifications
 
Minimum of two years (60 credits) college education (must meet federal paraprofessional standards)
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
Proficient in educational technology
Ability to work with diverse student populations
 
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with ESL population
Knowledge of special education or experience working with special education students
Knowledge of or experience with the International Baccalaureate Program
