Arabic Teacher (K-8), 2021-2022 school year

Global Academy is seeking passionate, dedicated teachers who provide best-practice instruction to diverse learners in Grades K-8.

Responsibilities:

  • Articulate the mission and vision of Global Academy to students, parents, and the greater community.
  • Create a classroom environment in which every child can succeed and which established high academic and behavior standards
  • Teach spoken and written Standard Modern Arabic
  • Follow Minnesota school law as it pertains to teaching
  • Motivate each student to develop his/her full potential
  • Create a positive rapport with students and parents
  • Demonstrate high proficiency and expertise in content areas
  • Create effective lesson plans and instructional materials
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students
  • Provide individualized and small group instruction as needed
  • Teach all approved curricula
  • Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences
  • Maintain a safe classroom environment
  • Implement and support the School Wide Positive Behavior System established by the school
  • Assess the progress of each student
  • Prepare and maintain appropriate records and progress reports
  • Communicate with parents during the school day and outside the normal classroom days as required
  • Identify student needs and make appropriate referrals for students services
  • Collaborate with the Student Support Team to write IEPS
  • Help to promote and maintain a professional environment
  • Supervise and direct paraprofessionals and volunteers as necessary
  • Be supportive and collaborative with colleagues and administrators
  • Demonstrate the attributes of a life-long learner
  • Stay current with best teaching practices
  • Successfully participate in the faculty professional development and evaluation system
  • Perform other duties as may be reasonably assigned by the administration

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid Minnesota teaching license in Arabic language
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Standard Modern Arabic and English
  • Native Arabic speaker preferred
  • Proficient in educational technology
  • Ability to work with diverse student populations

Elementary Teacher, 2021-2022 School Year

Global Academy’s mission is based on the principles of the International Baccalaureate Programme and is an authorized IB Primary Years Program site. Global Academy’s school culture is exemplary in providing a calm, safe environment in which students can learn.

 

Global Academy is looking for teachers for two types of elementary positions during the 2021-2021 school year:

  1. Homeroom teachers – we do not know the specific grade levels yet but we are hiring additional K-6 teachers
  2. Academic specialists – these teachers provide intervention services in reading and math in a whole group or small group setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate high proficiency and expertise in content areas
  • Create effective lesson plans and instructional materials

  • Use standardized test data to make instructional decisions

Required Qualifications

  • Must be licensed (or eligible to be licensed) to teach elementary students (Grades 1-6 or K-6) by the State of Minnesota or eligible to be licensed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with educational technology
  • Ability to work with diverse student populations
  • Commitment to educational equity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with ESL population
  • Knowledge of or experience with the International Baccalaureate Program

Global Academy is seeking passionate, dedicated physical education teacher who will provide best-practice instruction to diverse learners in grade kindergarten through eighth grades.  Due to the COVID 19 health situation, this person hired for this job should be prepared to change assignments as needed to meet the students’ needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Articulate the mission and vision of Global Academy to students, parents, and the greater community
  • Create a classroom environment in which every child can succeed and which establishes high academic and behavior standards
  • Motivate each student to develop his/her full potential
  • Create a positive rapport with students and parents
  • Demonstrate high proficiency and expertise in content areas
  • Develop curriculum, units, and lesson plans for new units of study
  • Create effective lesson plans and instructional materials
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students
  • Provide individualized and small group instruction as needed
  • Teach all approved curricula
  • Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences
  • Maintain a safe classroom environment

Special Education Teacher (K-8), 2021-2022 School Year

Global Academy is seeking passionate, dedicated teachers who will provide best-practice instruction to diverse learners.   Global Academy is an award-winning charter school that leads the state in closing the achievement gap for diverse students.  Global Academy’s mission is based on the principles of the International Baccalaureate Programme and is an authorized IB site.  Global Academy is the first charter school in Minnesota to have iPads for each of its 450 students in grade K-8.  Global Academy’s school culture is exemplary in providing a calm, safe environment in which students can learn.  Global Academy typically serves about 40 special education students with a variety of disabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Articulate the mission and vision of Global Academy to students, parents, and the greater community
  • Collaborate with teachers, school psychologist and other specialists in conducting special education evaluations and writing evaluation summary reports
  • Administer standardized evaluation instruments in conformance with professional standards of administration
  • Write Individual Education Plans
  • Plan and conduct special education team meetings
  • Assess and document the progress of special education students and communicate progress to parents through informal and formal progress reports
  • Maintain special education records in accordance with Minnesota Department of Education guidelines
  • Serve on Student Assistance Team
  • Supervise and direct the activities of special education assistants
  • Collaborate with teachers and instructional assistants to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with IEPs
